At Dropbox, our Total Rewards team works hard to make sure that we offer our team members across the globe the very best in benefits. Emmaline Nabors, our Global Perks and Wellness Manager, wears many hats when it comes to the Benefits team. She helps to organize and manage our commuter benefits and subsidies, wellness reimbursement and programmings such as fitness and meditation classes, Dropboxer discounts through FOND, onsite flu shot clinics, Global Wellness Week, and much more. She shared with us some details on her favorite programs and what to expect in terms of wellness perks this year.

What is your favorite program or benefit that Dropbox offers?

My favorite program is the wellness reimbursement. It’s such a great way to incentivize people to bring wellness into their lives, but there is also such a long list of different things you can use it for! So no matter where you are in your wellness journey — maybe you’re just getting started and need some tennis shoes, or you need a massage for recovery, or you wanna try new fitness studios — there will be something on that list you can use the money for to live your life and bring some wellness into it. It’s also available to all Dropboxers around the world.

What do you think is the most underutilized benefit that Dropboxers need to know about?

I feel like employees aren’t always aware of the FOND discount portal available to all U.S. employees. There are so many great discounts on there, and a lot of them were set up after suggestions by Dropboxers. For instance, an employee will reach out and say, “Hey, there’s this yoga studio down the street from the office, do you think they’ll offer us a discount?” And we are able to use FOND to connect with the yoga studio and work out a discount, and then they add it to the portal that is filtered by the employee’s location. There are so many different discounts on there employees can take advantage of!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love bringing wellness into people’s work lives and being able to help employees at Dropbox get the resources they need to take care of themselves and their families. I think Dropbox does a great job of doing everything we can to make sure our employees feel supported and taken care of.

Do you have any updates on plans or replacements for Wellness Week?

We will he hosting our first completely virtual Global Wellness Week in August of this year! I’m excited to be creating programing that Dropboxers around the globe can access virtually to help them focus on wellness and hopefully allow everyone to feel more connected while we are working remotely.

In reaction to everyone working remotely, we created our Work From Home Wellness Slack channel and class programming. Our fitness instructors from SF, Seattle, New York, and Austin are all teaching virtual fitness and meditation classes that all Dropboxers around the globe can enjoy at no cost. Our instructors also have been putting on fun challenges, sharing workout tips, and curating playlists through the Slack channel.

This has created a larger line up of classes available to even more employees: we have two stretch breaks and meditations a day to accommodate multiple time zones. We were also able to bring in our yoga teachers from Austin, New York, Seattle and San Francisco to teach classes, so employees can log on and take a free virtual class with the teachers they know and love. It’s kind of been a silver lining — everything’s been disrupted, but we can still bring wellness to people. It’s been cool to see that unfold and the community being built around at home wellness.

What are you doing right now to make the most of working from home?

It’s been interesting and has definitely had it’s ups and downs — I’ve never meal prepped, so I’ve been trying that out, and have been getting good at experimenting in the kitchen. I’m usually a very by-the-book, recipe-oriented person, but now it’s hard to get specific ingredients, so it’s like, “Okay, I have orzo, chicken, lentils, and kale — what am I gonna do?” My husband and I have been cooking together a lot, and it’s been really fun. We have also been taking daily walks with our dogs to spend some time outside and make sure we’re moving each day. Blocking time on my calendar for breaks has been a helpful reminder to get up and get way from my screen for a bit.

Anything else you’d like to share about your team?

Everyone on the Total Rewards Team has such a big heart and cares so much about Dropboxers, the People team, and each other. Employees might not always know who we are or exactly what we do since lot of our work is behind the scenes, but there’s so much thought going into every email that we send, program we roll out, or change we make.

You can learn more about our values and the benefits we offer our employees that help them thrive, no matter where they’re working, here.
